Getting Started with SAP Business One Web Client: Technical Prerequisites

Written by Consensus International | Feb 25, 2025 9:49:05 PM

As businesses strive for greater flexibility and efficiency, the SAP Business One Web Client offers a modern solution to access your business operations seamlessly. Before diving into its benefits, it's essential to ensure your system is ready. Here are the key technical prerequisites to start using the SAP Business One Web Client:

  1. Confirm Your Version: The first step is to verify that you are using SAP Business One version 10. This version is required to access the Web Client. We have included a screenshot in this post to guide you on how to validate your current SAP version. If you're on version 10, you're in luck—no additional licenses are needed. The Web Client is simply an alternative way to access SAP Business One, and every user connecting to it must be a licensed SAP Business One user.

  2. Web Client Component Installation: The Web Client Component must be installed and running in your environment or server. This installation is typically handled by Consensus during initial installations or upgrade projects. If it wasn't installed initially, don't worry—it can be added later, usually taking about one technical consulting hour. For those hosted with Consensus Cloud or SLAS Shared Cloud, rest assured that this component is already installed.
  3. Accessing the Web Client Remotely: If you wish to access the Web Client outside your local network, a reverse proxy server is necessary. A reverse proxy server acts as an intermediary, managing requests from clients seeking resources from your server. It enhances security and allows remote access. Installing a reverse proxy server typically requires about four technical consulting hours from the Consensus technical team. You'll need to provide a third-party certificate for remote access, a DNS record, and a NAT for your firewall. These should be provided by your IT provider.  If your system is hosted with Consensus Cloud or SLAS Shared Cloud, the reverse proxy server is included in your hosting fee.

To make this process even clearer, we've recently shared this short video that explains everything in detail. Watch it to ensure you're fully prepared to leverage the SAP Business One Web Client's capabilities.
